Now in its sixth year, SFO Magazine is proud to welcome Heather Larson-Blakestad as its new executive editor. She brings a fresh outlook and exciting editorial vision to the publication. Larson-Blakestad has seven years experience writing for, editing and managing custom financial publications, giving her the experience to lead SFO forward. Her energy means positive changes for the magazine are already underway and more will be implemented in the coming months, all with an eye to boost readership and improve quality.

SFO has always been a place for active traders to find consistently useful and cutting-edge articles on markets, trading strategies, technical methods and trading systems. Under Larson-Blakestad’s direction, the magazine plans to use this solid base as a foundation on which to build a community from individuals—our readers, contributing authors, industry insiders and staff members. The goal is to provide an arena where individuals can share their experiences and insights for the benefit of each other. As a result, readers will come to the magazine first for the information and knowledge they seek.

In house, our talent line-up is strong and boasts one of the best teams among financial magazines.

Kira McCaffrey Brecht, senior editor, has been with the magazine since November 2002 and has helped it grow into the esteemed publication it is today. Brecht brings a deep base of financial markets savvy to SFO, garnered from her 16 years of experience in the business. Starting out as a wire service news reporter on the trading floor of the Chicago Board of Trade, Brecht quickly learned the ins-and-outs of the futures industry, and worked her way up to the role of Chicago Bureau Chief of Futures World News. Brecht increased her knowledge base through work as a technical analyst at MMS International, where she provided institutional clients with intraday analysis and commentary on the fixed income cash markets. Throughout her career, Brecht has provided commentary and analysis on a variety of markets, including spot foreign exchange, the major U.S. stock indexes as well as all the major commodity futures markets.

Megan J. Milliken, assistant editor, is growing into an outstanding staff member. She hails from New Orleans, La., where a passion for sustainable business germinated shortly after a side swipe from Hurricane Katrina inundated her mother’s home. Milliken attended Loyola University in Chicago where she studied post-colonial literary theory, mystical theology and continental philosophy. She's a real treat at dinner parties. Megan is also co-editor for the Chicago site of www.worldchanging.com.

Sara Kies, creative director, and Katie Mihalakis, senior designer, provide outstanding designs that are easy to read and attract readers to the magazine. They create a unique look for SFO, making it stand out among its peers.

Look for a more comprehensive and cutting edge SFO in the months to come. Don't miss out on the opportunity to be part of the ongoing surge that SFO is attracting within its readership and advertising circles. The magazine delivers a high-value target audience to advertisers that captures reader attention and reinforces brand identity. Whether your advertisement is a fractional unit or a two-page spread, your message will highlight your firm as a specialist.
